Quality Control
Spectrum Coatings Ltd despatch all lenses with a 2 year guarantee. Lenses are rigorously inspected throughout each process we perform, our technicians regularly log the advances of the lens using the latest software, this allows our customers to track exactly where their order is up to.

Our machines are regularly re-calibrated and cleaned to ensure correct operation and technicians undertake random batch testing daily to ensure continuity of standards. As part of standard procedure all lenses are inspected for spectral curve, checking reflection and colour if tinting is applied.

Environmental durability tests designed to ensure our lenses will not fade or change colour during use and will not incur damage due to UV light, humidity or moisture.

Other checks carried out include:
  • Salt Water Boil Test
    This test assesses the robustness of an AR lens coating. The lens is boiled in a special solution of two different salts and water with intermittent rinses in de-ionised water, the lens is placed in this solution six times and inspected for effects following each cycle.
  • Scratch/Abrasion Test
    Our scratch/ abrasion test uses steel wool to determine the durability of the lens.

    • Tint/ Colour Fade
    • Humidity – Accelerated weathering
    • Cycle Humidity/ Crosshatch
